YouTube special version has been created for the Pakistani viewers, allowing the world’s largest video streaming platform to be accessible in the country after 3 and half years ban. PTA (Pakistan Telecommunication Authority) banned YouTube in 2012 following the release of some Anti-Islam videos on the site. Using new version of YouTube certain material can be blocked upon authorities request.
The government of Pakistan could ask google to restrict access of offending material for users withing country.
Google, said that it would not automatic removal process unless they conduct a review. Government submissions to remove contents would be publicly reported, it added.
“We have clear community guidelines, and when videos violate those rules, we remove them,” it said in a statement.
“Where we have launched YouTube locally and we are notified that a video is illegal in that country, we may restrict access to it after a thorough review.”
