This is second part of our previous tutorial, titled Installing DHCP Server on Server 2012 R2. In this Tutorial i will show you how to configure basic dhcp server.

Configure Scope

 

This is the range of IP Addresses which will be assigned to our client devices automatically

 

Step-1 : Click ‘Tools > DHCP’ to Open DHCP Snap-in as showed in the screenshot.

Step-2 : Right Click on ‘IPv-4 > New Scope’ to create a new scope.

Step-3 : Here we need to specify the scope name, you can give anything you would like. As I gave the name “IP-Pool 1”

Step-4 : Put the start IP Range and End IP range in the respective fields, DHCP Server will start giving ip from the starting ip to the requesting client Devices.

Step-5 : Excluded IP Addresses will not assign automatically to the client devices it will start from.

Step-6 : I will stick with default lease time configurations and Click ‘Next’.

Step-7 : There is few settings remaining I will choose yes to configure that changes now and Click ‘Next’.

Step-8 : Add the Default Gateway Address to the settings that will automatically assign to the clients and Click ‘Next’.

Step-9 : Add the DNS Server Address to the settings that will automatically assign to the clients and Click ‘Next’.

Step-10 : Select ‘Yes, I want to activate the scope now’ it will activate the scope chat you just created.

Now In the DHCP Snap-in you can see the Scope has been activated we just created and its ready to give IP addresses to the Client Devices.
